If you are one of those people who have always been envious of thin people – I have some good news for you. You can be one too – from this very moment!
We are often fooled into thinking that thin people have the good fortune to simply be that way naturally, miraculously. You look at them and imagine that it’s so easy. They seem to be able to eat whatever they want and as much as they want. You may even find yourself feeling that the situation is so unfair – why can’t you do that?
Well, the truth is that in most cases, what you are seeing is not what you think. Thin people do work at being that way. What is different though, is how thin people think and behave and that is what affects their weight. Thin people have a different strategy for how they approach their bodies and food.
Have you ever watched a thin person eat in a restaurant? Notice how slowly they eat. They chew and swallow the bite they have in their mouth before taking another. They may put their fork down often and sip water. They push the plate away with food still there. They allow their food intake to keep up with their feelings of hunger and stop eating when they are comfortably full
A thin person evaluates the origin of their desire to eat before acting on the impulse. Perhaps the trigger to eat something comes from boredom, anxiety, or maybe they have just walked past a donut shop. Thin people are able to wait, knowing that the impulse will pass as they get busy doing something else, if it isn’t really time to eat again.
Thin people are more apt to sit at the table when they eat, paying full attention to their food and they are aware of the food choices they are making.
Healthy, fit people do exercise and make the effort to take good care of their bodies. It is the rare person in today’s world of abundance, who is truly, naturally thin.
The result is that when you are proud of yourself and the way you look, you think, act and eat accordingly to maintain this image, attitude and lifestyle.
And that’s the secret – when you think, feel and act as a thin person, your world changes. Weight begins to disappear, almost on its own.
Imagine for a moment, one example :
See yourself sitting on the couch in front of the TV with chips or ice-cream, mindlessly eating until the containers are empty. Now, instead, see yourself sitting at a table in the kitchen, eating the same foods, without distractions and eating slowly, savoring each bite before taking another. You can immediately recognize how this greater awareness and control leads to a better outcome as you recognize when you have had enough and stop when you are comfortably full.
You don’t need to wait until you have reached your ideal weight to begin living your life as a thin person. Being thin is a state of mind, not just a state of body. When we begin to work on the mind first, the benefits to the body will follow.
